Wladyslaw "Ted" Typrowicz

Wladyslaw 'Ted' "Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather", 88, of Westford, beloved husband of Vicky (Krasowska) Typrowicz with whom he shared 63 years of his life and beloved father of Anna Typrowicz, Terry LeBlanc, and Liz Nelson, died February 26, 2011.

He was born July 28, 1922 in Poland, and deported from his homeland to the Soviet Union in 1940. After being evacuated to Iraq as part of General Anders's Polish Army, he served as a lieutenant in the Polish Second Corps, part of the British Eighth Army, in Italy, including the battles of Monte Casino and Piedimonte. Mr. Typrowicz completed his university education in London, after which he worked as a mechanical engineer in England, the Netherlands, and the U.S., where he had emigrated in 1968.

His projects ranged from designing the machine that stamped the Lego logo on every piece to filter pumps ensuring lint-free air in textile mills. In retirement, he traveled extensively, and enjoyed classical music, reading, the Bruins & Red Sox, his wide circle of friends on both sides of the Atlantic, and, above all, his family.

In addition to his wife and three daughters, Mr. Typrowicz is survived by his sons-in-law, Rich Cohen of Norwich, VT, Tom LeBlanc of New London, NH; seven grandsons, Peter, Josh, Andrew, Mark, Nate, David and his wife Jocelyn, Chris and his fiance Meredith, Benjamin, their son, and his great-grandson. He was predeceased by son-in-law Philip Nelson. Mr. Typrowicz is also survived by his brother, Tadzio, of London, England, and additional family in England and Poland.
