Stephen J. Allen

LYNN Stephen J. Allen, 62, of Lynn, formerly of Lowell, died Friday, December 9, 2011, at Northshore Medical Center in Salem, after a period of declining health.

A son of the late Donald and the late Ellen (Bancroft) Allen, he was born August 30, 1949, in Lowell, and was educated in the local schools, graduating from Lowell High School. He went on to attend Suffolk University, earning a Degree in English.

Mr. Allen grew up in Lowell and had been a communicant of St. Michael’s Church. He worked for over thirty five years with the United States Post Office throughout Massachusetts. In his spare time, Stephen was an avid reader and writer.

He is survived by his children, Christopher Allen and his wife, Ashley, of Waltham, Jeffrey Allen of Jamaica Plain, and Katherine Allen of South Boston; their mother, Kathleen (Crowley) Allen of Gardner; his brother, William Allen and his wife, Cristina, of Tyngsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
