
Leonard T. 'Lennie' Wholey
LOWELL Leonard T. 'Lennie' Wholey, 85, of Lowell, died peacefully, on Sunday, January 23, 2011, from complications of Parkinson’s disease. He was the husband of the late Joyce (King) Wholey.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts on January 19, 1926, he was a son of the late Joseph, and the late Rose (Cassidy) Wholey. He attended the local schools and was a member of the St. Rita’s Cadets. He went on to graduate from the University of Chicago with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. Later, he earned a Masters Degree in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell.
Mr. Wholey served with the United States Navy during World War II.
He resided in the Belvidere section of Lowell, and was a communicant of St. William's Church in Tewksbury. He was employed as an Electrical Engineer for many years, and retired in 1991, from The MITRE Corporation, Bedford, MA.
He is survived by two daughters, Lynne Dailey and her husband, Alan of Lowell, and Sharon Wholey of Lowell; a brother, Joseph Wholey and his wife, Doris of Lowell; his sister-in-law Lucille King of Plymouth, MA; and his two granddaughters, who filled his life with love, Pamela and Allison Dailey of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Leonard Wholey.
