Arthur D.
Sutcliffe was born and raised in Lowell. He is a graduate of
Saint Peter's Grammar School and Lowell High School Class of
1970. Arthur served as an apprentice in Funeral Service since
1980. He attended New England Institute of Applied Arts and
Sciences in Boston, graduating top of his class in 1986. Arthur
became a fully licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in the
fall of 1986. He then worked for Saunders Funeral Home on Westford
St. in Lowell, a firm serving families of Greater Lowell since
1900. Arthur purchased the business in 1989 and renamed it the
Saunders-Sutcliffe Funeral Home.
In the spring
of 2001 the Saunders-Sutcliffe Funeral Home was closed as the
number of families served had not grown enough to sustain increasing
costs of remaining at that location. Arthur then associated
himself with the Mahoney Funeral Home in Lowell, bringing with
him his years of experience and complete records from the former
Funeral Home.
Arthur
is a member of the National and Massachusetts Funeral Directors
Associations, a member and past president of the Greater Lowell
Kiwanis Club, a member and Past Chairman of the Salvation Army
Advisory Board, a member of the Lowell Festival Foundation,
and a member of the East End Club.
Arthur is
pleased and proud to join the Mahoney Funeral Home along with
the firm's president John J. McNamee Jr. in serving with integrity
and honesty the families that entrust their loved ones to us.
Arthur and John welcome those families served at the former
Saunders-Sutcliffe Funeral Home to this new location and promise
to serve them in the caring manner as they received in the past.
